ALBANY, NY — Republican candidate for New York State Comptroller Joseph Hernandez today accepted an invitation from Spectrum News / NY1 to participate in a statewide General Election Debate and called on Comptroller Tom DiNapoli to do the same. debt limit.
The one-hour live debate is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 1 at NY1’s Manhattan studios. The deadline to accept is Monday, September 21.
“On October 1, New Yorkers should get a side-by-side look at two very different backgrounds: Tom DiNapoli, a career politician who has spent decades in Albany, and me, a businessman, entrepreneur and investor who has spent his career building companies, managing capital and creating jobs,” Hernandez said. “DiNapoli has a duty to all New Yorkers to accept this debate and defend his 19-year record as Comptroller.”
“Under his watch, our state budget grew from roughly $120 billion to $277 billion, taxes doubled, waste and fraud continue to cost taxpayers billions, and pension dollars are invested using DEI mandates,” Hernandez said. “I’ll take a different approach by auditing New York, stopping fraud before the money is gone, focusing the pension fund on stronger returns, cutting unnecessary investment costs and putting more of New York’s capital to work creating jobs and opportunity here at home.”
