GOP Comptroller Candidate Joseph Hernandez Attends President Trump’s Suffern Remarks on Affordability and Tax Relief for New Yorkers

For Immediate Release

SUFFERN, NY — Republican candidate for New York State Comptroller, Joseph Hernandez, attended yesterday’s remarks by President Donald Trump at the Rockland Community College in Suffern. Trump focused on affordability, tax relief, and the economic challenges facing working families across New York.

Earlier this year, Hernandez visited the White House to meet with members of President Trump’s team regarding his campaign for New York State Comptroller and the importance of restoring fiscal accountability in Albany.

Hernandez praised President Trump’s efforts to lower costs for New Yorkers and applauded Congressman Mike Lawler for leading the fight to expand the SALT (State and Local Tax) deduction for taxpayers in high-tax states like New York.

“President Trump and Congressman Lawler understand that New Yorkers are being crushed by taxes and the rising cost of living,” Hernandez said. “Congressman Lawler helped lead the charge for meaningful SALT relief while President Trump continues fighting to lower costs, grow the economy, and deliver relief for hardworking taxpayers.”

Hernandez contrasted those efforts with what he described as the failures of one-party Democrat rule in Albany and the need for new leadership.

“While the Trump Administration and Congressman Lawler are working to provide relief for taxpayers, Albany Democrats continue making New York more unaffordable,” Hernandez continued. “Taxes keep rising, energy costs continue to soar, businesses are leaving, and the state budget continues to balloon with no accountability for how taxpayer money is being spent.”

“It was incredible to see so many New Yorkers yesterday who are ready for new leadership in Albany. President Trump’s support and commitment to New York is inspiring, and it reminds us that with strong leadership and the right vision, we can restore common sense, accountability, and opportunity to this state,” said Hernandez.

Hernandez said the affordability crisis facing New York families is directly tied to the need for stronger fiscal oversight and accountability in Albany.

“That is exactly why I’m running for State Comptroller,” Hernandez said. “New Yorkers need an independent watchdog willing to expose waste, fraud, and abuse and finally bring accountability back to our state government. Families are paying more and more while incumbent State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli continues rubber stamping reckless spending and failed fiscal policies.”
